Truly from Africa, The African Oil palm is a robust tropical rated to 50 feet, but more often seen mature at about 35-40 feet in South Florida

Coconut palm is #1 most important commercial palm, then African Oil palm is #2 in the world.  Oil is extracted from the seed and used both in cooking and for industry

Requires tropical zone 10-11, full sun, needs excellent drainage, poor soils are OK, no pests and expect a moderate growth rate

Once established, handles periods of no rain, and food needs are moderate

Plant in loose sandy soil with plenty of room and full sun exposure; water to establish and fuss a little year one, then expect carefree growth
